Generally, a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology focusing on therapeutic recreation can help you learn to drive a patient’s well-being and understand the science behind it. As a Kinesiology graduate, you could go on to work in schools, universities, hospitals, military environments, hotels, recreation centres, sports clubs, aquatic facilities, health clinics, wellness centres, and other private and public agencies. KIN 469 — Chronic Health Issues, Physical Activity, and Community Practice Issues related to physical activity and public health. Creation of activity plans that promote physical, mental, and/or social well-being in persons dealing with chronic health issues. KIN 284 — Lifespan Motor Development A lifespan approach to motor development that examines underlying factors affecting physical growth, physical activity behaviour, and human motor performance, while highlighting contemporary issues and trends in society. Courses in anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, musculoskeletal injuries, ergonomics, exercise prescription, lifestyle counselling, nutrition, psychology, sociology, motor control, and adapted physical activity. KIN 464 — Health Promotion and Physical Activity Current perspectives on health promotion and health education; design and implementation of health promotion strategies in a variety of arenas, particularly health promotion/education strategies aimed at encouraging physical activity. KIN 461 — Prevention of Sports Injuries I Training and safety strategies for the prevention of injuries to the musculoskeletal system and sense organs.
An understanding of kinesiology can prepare you for work in athletic fields, like training and coaching, education, or the medical field. Maybe you’d like to learn how to help others overcome diabetes and heart disease, or how to coach others to improve their sports performance, strength, and fitness. A Kinesiology degree opens up career opportunities in a wide range of fields, including education, fitness and recreation, sports management, medicine, physical therapy, and nutrition. You’ll also have opportunities to learn beyond the classroom through job and volunteer placements, outreach programs, peer academic coaching, mentorship, career fairs, lab crawls, and the Kinesiology Undergraduate Society. Our Health Sciences curriculum prepares students for a wide variety of career or graduate school options. Students in the kinesiology programs are involved in Group work and Experiential Learning opportunities beginning in first year. Kinesiology degree programs can also be known as human kinetics qualification courses. Through what the university calls the «Double Dawgs» program, you can achieve a bachelor of kinesiology and have your master’s degree in only one additional year.

One of the most appealing and beneficial features of the AKA core is that it provides a framework for the program that guides curriculum development by identifying the elements that should be included in any kinesiology curriculum, yet it allows flexibility for the specific needs and goals of the individual program to be met. IB Certificate courses (Standard and Higher Level) may be used in an admissions average if you are graduating from a recognized high school curriculum that can be used as your basis of admission.
IB Math Applications and Interpretations SL, or IB Math Studies, do not satisfy the math requirement for admission to UBC’s science-based programs, the Faculty of Management, the UBC Sauder School of Business, or the Vancouver School of Economics. The School of Kinesiology at Lakehead University offers degrees at the Undergraduate and Graduate level. Kinesiology offers a very powerful means to re-balance ourselves by allowing us to identify and balance the underlying cause of a complaint rather than just treating or suppressing the symptoms. The department offers undergraduate programs in Exercise and Health Promotion, and Kinesiology and Health Sciences as well as graduate concentrations in Sport and Exercise Psychology, and Sports Performance.
