South Florida Sports Coverage: June 2021

I believe BC could be a powerhouse in Women’s sports. Peer programs in Women’s soccer. Our ACC Championship in soccer showed that BC can win at an elite level. But after that I think his continued maturity, the less physical nature of the ACC and improved shooting from 3 will take his game to another level. First I think our Women’s Ice Hockey team is close to a breakthrough. Women’s Ice Hockey Championship in the same year. The geography to do the same. We just need to do it in the NCAA Tournament. The network will also carry a few neutral site games from the Barclays Center and become the home to the Big East tournament and portions of the Pac-12 tournament (even numbered years for the Pac-12). First, their championship is decided in a tournament. While less likely, I still think the men could win a National Championship. For example, we could have Nick Saban as our football coach and Heathered Gray I still think we would be more likely to win a National Championship in basketball.

Fortunately I think we are moving towards a playoff. Second ACC teams, private schools and teams from the northeast are the power players in the sport. BC explained it away due to the expanded ACC schedule. I was a student when our non-conference schedule was Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State and Army. I would rather keep UMass on the schedule. Moton’s former teammates won’t be playing UMass this year. Moton’s playing time was likely to decrease and now Donahue can add another player to this class without robbing future recruiting classes. CLASS 4: Region B, now at 13 schools, moves up to 15, as Midlothian leaves, replaced by Lee-Davis, while Orange County moves down from Class 5 and Spotsylvania moves up from Class 3. The new Region 4B would contain a land mass from Orange and Culpeper (Eastern View) to the northwest, east to King George, down Route 301 with Caroline and Hanover, down I-95, then I-85 to Dinwiddie, with Powhatan and Louisa to the west. ESPN West Palm 106.3 WUUB-FM, who is not registered with any ratings service, still relied on their block of weekday afternoon talk shows with Josh Cohen and Evan Cohen. ESPN will use commentators from TSN, the leading sports channel in Canada and CFL rightsholder, throughout the CFL season, which concludes in November.

The quarters will still be regionally televised, but the semifinals will now be televised by CBS College Sports and the championship has moved from ESPN to CBS. Now bigger men could do a lot of good with it. It means the speculation and projecting is over and we now have a group of guys to welcome into the BC family. I can’t say what this means for upcoming negotiations for the Big Ten rights that they currently carry. Regional games on AT&T Sports & Spectrum Sports PPV could stay & use B/R Live out of market, assuming there is some location services component to protect the in-market rights. With the depth of female talent in the northeast, there is no reason BC women’s basketball couldn’t be one of the elite. The survive and advance aspect allows for a team with a talent disadvantage to get hot and make a run (see Butler, VCU and George Mason). In a few years I could see us winning the men.

With that in mind, I’ve been wondering which other BC teams have a basic foundation for winning a National Championship. Jerry York clearly this championship thing figured out. Boston College is suffering from a deep-seeded malaise; the Eagles have seen their win total drop in each of the last four years, bottoming out with a four-win finish a year ago. As in 1997, when the university replaced Henning with O’Brien, the Eagles might need to make a drastic change in order to regain its footing in the A.C.C. They need to believe that the offense can score. What other teams can win championships at BC? Spencer (5-11, 180) was a standout defensive back, receiver and special teams player at Middle Creek High School in Apex, N.C. During one drill, a receiver complained that the QBs weren’t throwing the ball hard enough. We must make that our number one priority,» said VHSL Executive Director Dr. John W. «Billy» Haun. But even then BC is going to have to earn an auto bid because it would take a miracle for us to get one of the few at large bids. I grouped them by revenue sports and then national sports and then specialized/niche sports.
