The vision of the School of Kinesiology is to be a national and global leader in education, impactful research, and service within the Kinesiology disciplines. We will supply you with the tools to market and promote sport activities, to be an advocate for community recreation, and to become a leader in the sports community. Specialized areas of study in Kinesiology include biomechanics, psychology of physical activity, exercise physiology, history of physical activity, measurement of physical activity, motor development, motor learning and control, physical activity and public health, physical education pedagogy, sport management, sports medicine, and the sociology of physical activity. Physical education teacher certification requirements vary from state to state. Additionally, applicants must hold appropriate prior certification in physical education (P-12) or the approved equivalent. Transcript evaluation: Applicants should contact the Office of Student Services & Certification for a transcript evaluation to determine prerequisite courses and other requirements. To be eligible for admission to the kinesiology major, a student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.250 and have passed the L.KIN-101, L.BIO-115, and L.BIO-115L courses with a grade of C or better in each.
Chiropractic methods and techniques have grown extremely in the past years. Please note that students do not have to wait until their senior year to start in a lab-in fact, Spine Pain GO Tape faculty are generally more enthusiastic about students who have spent several semesters (even years!) in the lab. Effective July 1, 2017, two full years of full-time, acceptable professional educational work experience are required for admission to Class A instructional support programs, including Class A Sport Management. These admission criteria are not absolutes. There are admission requirements specific to the department in addition to those in the Admission Criteria section of the Graduate Catalog. In addition to the high value placed on research by medical and graduate school admissions committees, an undergraduate research experience serves to engage students in «active learning» outside of the traditional classroom. These «faculty-mentored undergraduate research» courses are sequential and progressive as denoted in their numbering (KINS 4960R, KINS 4970R, KINS 4980R) with the final course (KINS 4990R) being a capstone or thesis project course. Students interested in pursuing this course should first contact a faculty member to find a lab in which they can become engaged.
