Kinesiology are assigned an advisor in accordance with their career choice. Several tracks are offered for students who are interested in a career in these fields. Students are encouraged to declare career intentions early so that appropriate coursework and field experiences may be planned. The mixed methods data collection included: (a) analysis of website photos and anti-racism documents to determine the perceived racial diversity and anti-racism priority; and (b) semi-structured interviews with five undergraduate students from one kinesiology program to analyze their experiences with whiteness. This track prepares you for a diversity of roles in the areas of sports marketing, facility management and planning, human resources, strategic planning, sport finance and facility design. We foster innovation and diversity across many dimensions and prepare our students to engage in projects that address the needs of our increasingly complex and diverse society. Students may seek a career other than public school teaching. Students pursuing careers other than teaching are not eligible for teacher certification. Students majoring in either Health or Kinesiology may qualify for a Provisional Teaching Certificate after being admitted to teacher education, completing the prescribed requirements, and being recommended by the department to the Texas Education Agency through the University’s Council for Teacher Education.
Students interested in Texas certification for a teaching career must apply for, and be admitted to, the professional phase of teacher education. Completion of this degree and other academic requirements does not automatically assure that the student will be recommended for a teaching certificate. Students should see an academic advisor for specific requirements. Once the two responses have been experienced by both parties, the tester will then get into a series of questions, and after each one, will again press down on the tested’s out-raised arm to see which response occurs. When one person performs it upon another, as I experienced it, the testing party (the tester) will have the test-receiving party (the tested) stand with feet parallel and at shoulder width, and then raise one arm straight out. Muscle testing can be performed upon others, or it can also be self-applied. Students interested in pursuing this course should first contact a faculty member to find a lab in which they can become engaged.
Because of the wide variety of careers in Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Management and the difference in course requirements for each, it is essential for students to take advantage of the advising opportunities offered by the department. A progressive weight training course designed to provide instruction in techniques and training of muscular strength, muscular endurance and muscle definition through the use of free weights and machines. The Exercise Science — Health, Fitness, & Wellness track is designed for students interested in careers in the commercial and corporate fitness industry as personal fitness trainers and fitness directors, strength and conditioning coaches as well as for students interested in pursuing a graduate degree in exercise science or athletic training. The department also provides academic preparation for students interested in allied health and medical related professional schools, e.g., physical therapy, occupational therapy, physicians’ assistant, nursing, or medicine. You could be a physician or physician assistant, or get a job as a personal trainer or dietitian.

The Computer Laboratory is equipped with 24 Windows computers, a handicapped-accessible work station, an Apple Mac, a scanner and a printer.
