The B.S. in Health and Kinesiology has five emphases: Community Health; Emergency Medical Services; Nuclear Medicine Technology; Health and Physical Education; and Kinesiology. In addition to the high value placed on research by medical and graduate school admissions committees, an undergraduate research experience serves to engage students in «active learning» outside of the traditional classroom. Interesting careers within the field include working in the fitness industry (i.e., personal trainer or strength and conditioning specialist), working for a professional sports team as an athletic trainer, working as a coach, and conducting research in one of the subdisciplines. A Kinesiology degree is a college major program where students learn about the fundamentals of human movement and a variety of other subjects that prepare students to work in fitness instruction, rehabilitation, sports medicine, research and other areas. All three are life sciences that usually lead the graduate to a career as a Doctor of Phyical therapy (DPT), Sports Medicine or «Allied Health» professions.
