Richardson told to 'train harder' and 'not say too much' by Usain Bolt

has advised outspoken American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson to stop her trash talking and instead focus on training harder.

Legendary athlete Bolt, an eight-time Olympic gold medallist, believes that Richardson, 21, must ‘back up’ her bullish comments on the track.

Richardson quickly shot to stardom after earning a spot in Tokyo with , but was later dropped after testing positive for cannabis.

Handed a one-month ban, Richardson explained that she took the drug to help her cope with the loss of her biological mother, a comment which saw her supported.

Bolt, however, is adamant that the prodigiously talented Richardson must place all of her efforts into securing a dream comeback and staying quiet.  

He told the : ‘I would tell Sha’Carri to train harder and to be focused and not say too much. If you talk that big talk you have to back it up.

Making her return last month after the ban, Richardson finished last in the 100m dash at the Nike Prefontaine Classics.

Confident ahead of the race, the sprinting sensation made use of a meme, which said: ‘I took some time off to rest and now it’s game time, b****es. You have no idea!’

But her attitude left Bolt and his fellow athletes from Jamaica thoroughly unimpressed, and they were spurred on to beat her.

‘Jamaicans were vexed because she was talking a lot of s*** before the actual race, it is just one of those things,’ Bolt added.

‘Jamaicans don’t like when people talk s*** about us because we are a very proud people. So if you talk about us we are gonna want you to back it up. 

‘It definitely gave those women the extra push [to win].’

Having watched Richardson’s nightmare performance in Eugene, Oregon, Bolt believes that the divisive talent earned her comeuppance for her words.
