The Department of Kinesiology at California State University, Northridge offers The Master of Science in Kinesiology degree. An exercise science degree prepares you to work in physical activity programs of prevention, intervention, and rehabilitation in hospitals, industry, and communities. This concentration will prepare you to work in a wide range of enterprises that include clinical exercise physiology, cardiac rehabilitation, and commercial fitness facilities or pursue graduate education in kinesiology or exercise science. Choose from three tracks: the physical education teaching track, athletic training track and pre-health science track that incorporates the prerequisites for pre-medicine, pre-physical therapy and pre-occupational therapy career paths, if desired. The kinesiology and exercise track is designed for students who have interests is coaching, teaching, personal training, strength and conditioning, exercise physiology, and more. The Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Science Department is a diverse and interdisciplinary department that offers multiple nationally accredited programs of study designed to promote lifetime health, fitness, and physical activity across the lifespan. Muscle testing, or kinesiology, has grown in popularity over the last 30 years. Because of this confusion, research evaluating the usefulness of muscle testing has been difficult to design and interpret. Provides research opportunities as part of every course.
